Dr. Kari Cleavinger has been associated with Katy Veterinary Clinic since 2003 and purchased the clinic in 2008. Dr. Cleavinger is a graduate of the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. "As a life-long Katy resident, there is no other place in the world where I would rather practice veterinary medicine. The city of Katy has been so good to me and my family and giving something back to the community is extremely important. By providing high quality veterinary care, I feel the community and their pets will benefit greatly." Dr. Cleavinger enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two children, as well as cooking and working crossword puzzles.
Dr. Cullen Dauchy
Dr. Cullen Dauchy has been practicing at Katy Veterinary Clinic since 1971 and was owner from 1978-2008. Dr. Dauchy graduated from Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Although he devotes much time to patient care and to practice management, Dr. Dauchy supports many youth activities in the Katy area. Dr. Dauchy has been a Partner in Education with Katy Elementary School since 1988. He served three years as president of the Katy High School Athletic Booster Club and has won its Outstanding Service Award. He has also sponsored local youth sports teams and he is an honorary member of both the Katy High School FFA and the Taylor High School FFA. Dr. Dauchy and his wife, Alice Ann, are very active in their church. The Dauchy family includes three daughters and seven grandchildren.
Dr. Lori Smith
Dr. Lori Smith is a 1995 graduate of Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine. She began working at Katy Veterinary Clinic in 1986 as a high school student. Dr. Smith enjoys practicing veterinary medicine with each day bringing her new challenges and opportunities to serve the needs of her clients and patients. Each patient is unique and special and she feels great privilege in caring for them. Dr. Smith is blessed to be a part of Katy Veterinary Clinic and work with such a dedicated and compassionate veterinary team. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children as well as attending sporting events.
Dr. Hillary Barra
Dr. Hillary Barra is a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University's School of Veterinary Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Barra spent a year in Coral Springs, Florida where she completed a small animal medical and surgical internship. She then returned home to Katy in 2009 and joined the team at Katy Veterinary Clinic. She is dedicated to providing the highest quality medicine to all of her patients and treating them as if they were members of her own family. When Dr. Barra is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Kevin, and their four adorable children. She also loves playing with her frisbee-catching, ball chasing Australian Shepherd, Faith.
Dr. Catherine Berry
Dr. Catherine Berry, a Katy native, completed her under-graduate and doctoral studies at Texas A&M and the College of Veterinary Medicine, class of 2002. After interning at Southwest Equine in Scottsdale, AZ, she practiced at a local equine clinic until 2010 when she joined a horse, dog & cat practice in Bellville, TX. Dr. Berry brought her mix of special skills and experience to our practice in 2016. She truly enjoys providing healing and care for creatures, great and small. Away from work, she loves spending time with her husband, Nick and their two Corgis, Daisy and Toby. Her second passion is competing with her German-bred hunter-jumper, Lucy.
Dr. Jessica Machala
Dr. Jessica Machala was born and raised in Northwest Houston. She attended Texas A&M and earned her Finance degree from Mays Business School in 2009. While attending business school, she discovered her true passion, caring for animals. She worked as a Vet Tech and volunteered at a local Humane society while taking science courses required for application to vet school. Dr. Machala graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2017 and is very excited about joining the amazing Katy Veterinary Clinic team. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Chris, son Garrett, and two rescue dogs, Peewee and Brodie.
Edna began working at Katy Vet Clinic in 1974. Edna’s responsibilities include managing accounting for the clinic and working in the front office. She is also on hand to answer questions and assist clients in the reception area. Edna enjoys reading and gardening.
Paula has been working at Katy Vet Clinic since 1985. Paula’s duties at the clinic are primarily focused toward client services including scheduling client appointments and answering phones. Paula and her husband, Dennis, have three children and four grandchildren. Paula’s pets include hunting dogs and several horses. When not working, Paula enjoys going to the lake with her family and spending time with her grandchildren.
Janet has been working in the veterinary field since 1989 and has been with Katy Vet Clinic since 1991. Janet has an associate degree in Veterinary Technology from Texas State Technical College and is a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT). Janet is responsible for keeping inventory of medications and supplies, assisting with patient care, and performing dental procedures. Janet and her husband, Wayne, have two children. Their family also includes four dogs. Janet enjoys reading a good book, listening to music, and walking in her spare time.
Julie began working at Katy Vet Clinic in 1993. Her responsibilities include maintaining care of our boarding animals and assisting with pet grooming. Julie and her husband, Joe, have three children and one dog.
Kasey began working in the veterinary field in 1994 and has worked at Katy Vet Clinic since 1997. Kasey earned her Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification in 2005. In 2009 she was promoted to Head Technician. While continuing to provide care for clients and their pets, she is responsible for technical staff training and development, and she assists with inventory management and staff scheduling. Kasey has two children, two dogs and one cat. Kasey's hobbies include making crafts and spending time with her children.
Ann has been working at Katy Vet Clinic since 2001. She is our Head Receptionist providing client service and information. Ann and her husband, Chuck, have two children and two grandchildren. Her family is complete with two dogs, two cats, a bird, and a bunny rabbit.
Tom began working in the veterinary field in 1997 and has been employed at Katy Vet Clinic since 2002. Tom has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science. He is our Practice Manager and oversees the day-to-day operation of the hospital including staff management and inventory management. Tom is married and has 4 children. His family has two dogs. Tom’s hobbies include working with electronics, carpentry, metal working and music.
Sue began working at Katy Vet Clinic in 2006. Sue is responsible for maintaining the clinic’s reminder system and assisting clients in the reception area. Sue has a chocolate Labrador retriever. Her hobbies include snow skiing, river rafting, hunting, quilting, cooking, and playing with her granddaughters.
Kristy has been working in the veterinary field since 1996 and has been working at Katy Vet Clinic since 2008. Kristy is an experienced dental technician, veterinary technician, and receptionist. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Isaac, her daughter, Skye, and her dogs. Kristy's hobbies include spending time with her family, cooking, and reading.
Laurie Youngblood joined Katy Vet Clinic in July 2009 and has been grooming since 1984. Laurie has three daughters. Laurie's hobbies include scrapbooking, cooking and Bar-B-Que cookoffs. Laurie is very loving and patient with her client's pets. She works very well with dogs and cats who become stressed from the car ride to the clinic or just from being away from home.
Schedule an Appointment for Pet Grooming
Limited grooming is available 8 days per month for current clients, usually on Wednesdays and Thursdays. An appointment is required and can be scheduled by phone on the groomer's direct line, or by completing the form. Laurie schedules her own appointments and operates on a separate schedule from the Katy Veterinary Clinic doctor's schedule. For client convenience, veterinary services can be pre-arranged for the same day in the clinic for pet grooming.
